Our Kansas City plant has been named a Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star Site through OSHA. This designation recognizes employers and workers who have implemented effective safety and health management systems and maintain injury and illness rates below average. Milbank joins only one other manufacturing company in the state of Missouri with the VPP Star Site designation, and is one of the seven companies within the same manufacturing industry with this designation in the U.S.
 
Milbank spent two years making strides to improve safety and production. Their efforts included:

• Updating technology, equipment and facilities to increase efficiency and employee morale

• Creating a specialized, Milbank-centric Training Within Industry (TWI) program and online learning courses for all employees

• Implementing an equipment guarding program that has become an industry benchmark

“Such an honor could not have been achieved without our dedicated employees,” said Troy Maki, Vice President of Manufacturing for Milbank. “Producing quality products is a result of a successful training program which drives continuous improvement and a safe manufacturing environment.”

Milbank’s El Dorado, Ark. plant currently maintains the Department of Labor’s SHARP designation, similar to the VPP through OSHA. Plans and preparation are under way to establish the Milbank Concordia plant as a VPP star site also. Representatives from OSHA’s regional office presented a VPP flag and plaque to Milbank on Thursday, Jan. 10.
