PWRvance Powers Rhode Island's First NEVI-Funded EV Charging Stations

PWRvance is proud to announce our pivotal role in the opening of Rhode Island’s first National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program-funded electric vehicle (EV) charging stations along I-95.

Rhode Island Unveils NEVI-Funded EV Charging Stations Featuring PWRvance High Amperage Power Distribution Cabinets

PWRvance is proud to announce our pivotal role in the opening of Rhode Island’s first National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program-funded electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

These NEVI funded stations, located at the Warwick and Ashaway Park and Rides, mark a significant step forward in the state’s journey toward cleaner, more sustainable transportation options.

As the provider of the high amperage power distribution cabinets essential for these charging stations, PWRvance is at the heart of Rhode Island’s efforts to meet its Act on Climate requirements.

The simultaneous launch of these two stations comes with an additional achievement: the Federal Highway Administration, in collaboration with the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation, has certified Rhode Island's I-95 alternative fuel corridor (AFC) as fully built out. This milestone ensures convenient, reliable and affordable charging every 50 miles along the corridor, simplifying travel for EV drivers.

For reference, I-95 is a major US highway that spans the entire East coast, from the very northern point of Maine, all the way to Miami. I-95 also runs through nearly every major city in the Atlantic Coast region, including:

·         Boston

·         New York

·         Philadelphia

·         Baltimore

·         Savannah

·         Jacksonville

With "fully built out" status now secured, Rhode Island has increased flexibility to invest more than $22 million in additional NEVI funding to support EV drivers with public charging infrastructure, no matter where they live, work or play.

"Rhode Island is leading the charge when it comes to quick and efficient deployment of convenient charging that helps residents and visitors get where they need to go, emission-free," said Gabe Klein, Executive Director of the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation.

These stations provide reliable charging along the full length of Rhode Island's I-95 EV corridor, paving the way for the state to continue expanding its EV network across new regions. Rhode Island isn’t the only state to benefit from the charging stations along the AFC, it’s an invaluable region for anyone that travels along I-95 in this region.

Central to the success of these new charging stations is the advanced technology provided by PWRvance. Our high amperage power distribution cabinets ensure that each charging station operates at peak efficiency, meeting the demands of modern EVs while providing a seamless user experience. In an area as populated and heavily traveled as this stretch of I-95, a smooth user experience is essential.

This innovative technology is critical in supporting Rhode Island’s clean energy and transportation initiatives, reinforcing our commitment to a sustainable future. Rhode Island’s implementation of clean energy funds will also encourage other states to follow suit.

The Joint Office of Energy and Transportation is collaborating with all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico to bring the US government’s clean energy vision to life. The NEVI program represents a unified effort to create an EV future that is carefully planned, efficiently built, and accessible to all Americans.

By investing in state-of-the-art technology and infrastructure, Rhode Island is enhancing its transportation network and setting a precedent for other states to follow. The opening of these NEVI-funded charging stations is a significant step towards a sustainable future, showcasing Rhode Island’s leadership in the transition to clean energy and electric vehicles.
