Milbank Expands U5168 Series with New Upper Wireway-Free Option U5168-XL

Milbank’s U5168 series has been a trusted solution for NEC 2020 compliant service equipment needs, aligned with Section 230.85(1) for emergency disconnects and Section 230.62, for enclosed or guarded service equipment.

We’re excited to share that we’re expanding the U5168 series by introducing a new model of our utility-approved meter sockets, without a wireway on top, giving contractors and utilities even more flexibility in their installations.

                •              Extra branch circuits for added versatility.
                •              Feed-through lugs for simplified wiring.
                •              Interlock kits available for generator backup power.
                •              Made with G90 galvanized steel with a powder coat finish for durability.

Expanded Options for Your Next Project

The new upper wireway-free model of our NEC 2020 compliant U5168 series provides an alternative for customers who need a streamlined, space-conscious design while still benefiting from Milbank’s proven performance and compliance in utility-approved meter sockets.

While we’re excited to offer this new option, we understand that many of you still rely on our U5168-XTL and want to assure you that these are still available with a small price increase.
Whether you require overhead or underground service entry, a horn bypass (-KK suffix), or a field- or factory-installed fifth terminal (-5T suffix), the U5168 series offers flexibility to meet your project requirements. If you need a lever bypass unit, please contact your local rep to inquire about our U6281. Also available with lever bypass options are the U5871 and U6012.
Need generator backup power? Interlock kits (K5815, K5820, and K5830) allow for seamless integration, ensuring reliable service when you need it most.

As always, consult your local utility for approved products in your area. For more information on the NEC 2020 compliant U5168 series and our latest updates, visit https://www.milbankworks.com/ or contact our team today.
